Malayalam Mission, an initiative of the Cultural Department of the Government of Kerala is born with a vision of Wherever the Malayalee, there the Malayalam , in 2009. Malayalam Mission was launched by introducing 4 Courses to learn Malayalam through an integrated and easy Malayalam Learning Language Course.
Among this 4 courses,Neelakurinji (Senior Higher Diploma Course) is considered as equivalent to the 10th Standard Malayalam syllabus of the Government of Kerala. Malayalam Mission is conducting this course through study centers across the globe with the help of specially trained language mentor teachers. When the need for a Malayalam learning online course was raised from different corners of malayalee global diaspora, Malayalam Mission decided to launch Malayalam Massive Open Online Open Course free for everyone.
Bhoomi Malayalam Massive Open Online Course (BMOOC )is another achievement of Malayalam Mission, which is fulfilled with the vision of Sri. Pinarayi Vijayan, Honourable Chief Minister of Kerala(Chairman, Malayalam Mission) and Sri. A K Balan, Honourable Minister of Cultural Affairs Department of Govt of Kerala ( Vice Chairman, Malayalam Mission) and Prof. Suja Susan George ( Director, Malayalam Mission).
BMOOC has conducted its first workshop in April 26-27, 2018 and the master plan and curriculum was evolved during the workshop conducted in May 9-10, 2018 and in the same year BMOOC also conducted several workshops.
BMOOC aims to help to learn Malayalam ,free of cost, for everyone from anywhere in the world. BMOOC also aims to sustain Malayalam as a living language for future generations too. BMOOC is designed as a fun and easy language learning tool with visual, text and audio.
After the completion of workshops, BMOOC has roll-out it pilot episodes in Mumbai & Bengaluru successfully.
With the technical help of C-DIT, Malayalam Mission has released the first ever authentic Malaylam online course. Sri. A K Balan, , Honourable minister for Cultural Affairs Department of Govt of Kerala ( Vice Chairman, Malayalam Mission) has inaugurated BMOOC in February 21, 2021 .
BMOOC plans to include a short term literary appreciation, creative writing, and implementation of cultural study/anthropology courses in future.
